Chemicals in Contacts

With Halloween around the corner, it is important to pay attention to where your costume pieces come from and what they’re made of. Even though it’s just for one night, some costumes can cause serious injury–in particular, colored costume contacts. Recent studies have shown that colored contacts can contain chemicals that can seriously damage the eyes, including chlorine. Some contacts even have decorative patterns printed on them and the raised textures can cause cuts and scratches on the cornea. Over-the-counter colored contacts come with very serious risks.
